SkinworXXX Launches Rock Star PRM

December 31st, 2009

LOS ANGELES — Adult studio skinworXXX has branched out to form Rock Star Public Relations & Management, a PR and event/talent management company for adult industry clients.

Rock Star PRM handles its clients’ publicity, personal appearances, strategic partnerships and more.

The company launched with an impressive list of clients, including six contract girls. Its debut clients are skinworXXX co-owner Eva Angelina, Adam & Eve’s Alexis Ford, Wicked Pictures Kaylani Lei, SunLust Pictures star Sunny Leone, Adam & Eve star and skinworXXX co-owner Teagan Presley, Wicked Pictures’ Kirsten Price, Kiara Diane, Shyla Stylez, Isis Taylor and Sadie West.

“The 2010 Rock Star PRM talent roster, or ‘Rock Starlets,’ is truly amazing,” skinworXXX CEO Joshua said. “I don’t think we could’ve asked for a bigger lineup of stars comprised of contract stars, gonzo superstars, and rising stars. We aren’t another ‘copy, paste and post’ PR shop. Our focus is on talent management and brand development, and the publicity and marketing that makes those stars and clients and their events and projects into something that’s not only successful, but memorable.”

Rock Star PRM is positioned as a full-service PR and management shop and also will assist clients in the areas of new technology such as iPhone applications, website development and viral marketing campaigns.

“One of the big goals of skinworXXX and now Rock Star PRM is to see adult and more importantly adult stars go back to exactly that: being stars,” Joshua said. Teagan and Eva’s stars have gone up in the past two years and so have their sales, and they’ve both been in only three movies in the past year. Being a star is more than just performing in front of the camera, it’s also about how you treat your fans, coworkers and press, behind closed doors and in public.”

For more information, email rockstarlets@me.com. The company will soon launch RockStarlets.com as its official website.

Eric Kalén Introduces Tickler, Co-brands With Liberator

December 31st, 2009

ATLANTA — Luxury erotic furniture designer Liberator is expanding its brand presence into the sex toy arena by partnering with former LELO chief designer Eric Kalén for the launch of the co-branded Tickler line of vibrators.

Tickler is a family of playful vibrators that includes the Cute Tickler, Rebel Tickler, Sunny Tickler, Mystic Tickler and Bunny Tickler. The line is the brainchild of Kalén who has dedicated his career to great design and functionality.

“One of Tickler’s main idea is to open up new channels and reach a new audience,” Kalén said. “We believe that Liberator is the perfect partner for us to achieve this through the North and South American launch of the Tickler brand presented by Liberator.”

Currently, Tickler is only available in Australia and China. Liberator Chief Sales Officer Michael “Sky” Kane told XBIZ that the partnership will bring exposure to the Tickler line beyond the adult market.

“As our first foray into the toy business, we can use our reputation and exposure in mainstream media — like Maxim and Men’s Health magazines — to present the unique Tickler line to the masses and it becomes acceptable; a normal, retail-friendly line of products that can be sold your local CVS [drugstore].”

Another mainstream consumer-friendly element about the Tickler line is its price. With a MSRP of $34, Kalén told XBIZ that his motive for creating the line is to give people the opportunity to find a high-quality vibrator at an affordable price where they can collect them all.

“Tickler is perfect for first-time buyers,” Kalén said. “My hope is that they have a positive, liberating experience and come back for more.”

The playful designs of Tickler vibes feature bright colors and each one represents a different personality, posing consumers with the question: “Which Tickler are you?”

“We believe that Tickler adds an air of playfulness and fun to the market that is currently missing,” Kane said. “The Tickler concept was adopted for the mainstream market in areas where this industry has typically never been before.”

Each Tickler vibe has its own unique character and individual design that provides different vibration patterns to match an individual’s preference and mood.

The Cute Tickler features a generous surface that allows for vibration over a large area. The Bunny Tickler gives spot-on vibration with its nose. The Mystic Tickler’s sprouts offer a soft fluttering experience. The Rebel Tickler is a versatile vibrator for both internal and external stimulation. The bright yellow Sunny Tickler features a textured surface.

All Tickler vibes are powerful, waterproof, quiet and made from body-safe materials. With batteries included, they are “ready to tickle right out of the box.”

The product is delivered in contemporary packaging together with a stand for storage and display. Kane said two POP displays will be presented at AEE in January. A black aluminum floor display — with only one tool necessary for assembly, which will be included — that will hold 75 units and five samples.

A cardboard counter-top fixture holding 25 units also will be offered. Displays will bear the Liberator name to maximize the power of the brand.

With a partnership that came to fruition over the past year, Kane said it works so well because both sides are on the same page as far as expansion.

“By marrying the name synonymous with great design, Eric Kalén and the Tickler/Liberator brands, I believe that we have a tiger by the tail and that this relationship marks the next step in our evolution as a mainstream provider of sexual well-being products,” he said.

Kane added that future plans include more co-branded products and creating products based on collaboration rather than co-branding.

“This is a great collaboration,” Kalén said. “I think it’s going to be an exciting new year.”

Wicked Pictures, RealDoll Partner to Create New Line

December 31st, 2009

LOS ANGELES — Wicked Pictures has joined forces with life-like love doll creator RealDoll to produce the Wicked RealDolls, a series of licensed high-end, fully articulated and realistic representations of the Wicked Girls and other adult stars.

The line will debut with RealDolls of contract stars Jessica Drake and Alektra Blue.

“I had seen RealDoll products at a number of conventions over the years and always wanted to use them in a movie, but I never had a project that would utilize the dolls to their full potential,” Wicked director Brad Armstrong said. “Then came ‘2040’ and I knew this was the perfect fit. So I approached RealDoll to use some of their dolls and body parts in the movie and as fate would have it, they were already working on a Hollywood movie with a very similar theme — ‘Surrogates’ — so they were already in ‘android mode.’

“I went down to their showroom and I was amazed by the quality and vision they brought to the table. I thought there must be a way for Wicked and RealDoll to work together, joining the best in adult entertainment with the best in doll manufacturing. I pitched Matt McMullen, the owner of RealDoll, on the idea of putting together a Wicked RealDoll line, and the rest is history. We’re incredibly excited to bring the Wicked Girls to life in doll form and let their fans enjoy them at home. I’ve seen the first two dolls and they are incredible.”

RealDoll has been producing life-like sex dolls since 1996. The company has supplied dolls to Hollywood productions including “Lars and the Real Girl” with Ryan Gosling and “Surrogates” starring Bruce Willis.

“I want to thank Brad Armstrong for bringing this opportunity to the table,” Wicked Pictures President and Owner Steve Orenstein said. “The folks at RealDoll have always been leaders in their field. I believe the Wicked/RealDoll partnership will be a huge success. Bringing the star power of the Wicked Girls as well as other top stars in the industry together with a new generation of dolls using RealDoll’s latest technology is a sure win.”

RealDoll is actively looking for adult stars to make dolls in their likeness. For more information, email makemyrealdoll@wickedpictures.com.

“Working with a high profile company like Wicked, which is known for setting industry standards, will enable me to take Realdoll to a whole new level,” RealDoll owner Matthew McMullen said. “With our initial release of licensed RealDolls based on Wicked’s entire line up of amazing contract girls, I feel that we have introduced a new era in the adult entertainment industry.”

AbbyWinters CEO Garion Hall Charged in Australia

MELBOURNE — Garion Hall, the CEO of AbbyWinters.com, has been charged with 54 counts of producing and possessing “objectionable” films.

Hall also was charged on three child porn counts after police in Victoria raided his business, G Media, in June and seized footage of allegedly illegal sex acts. Computer records and DVDs were among items seized.

He was released after being questioned in June and charged last week with the “serious offenses,” which are equivlent to felonies.

The charges relate to sexually explicit DVDs allegedly made by his multimillion-dollar company, G Media.

Two of Hall’s former models who appear on the AbbyWinters website as Blaire and Melita accused G Media of exploiting them and other nude models by not warning them it was illegal to profit from making objectionable films in Victoria, according to Australia’s Herald Sun.

The women claim G Media used large cash incentives to lure naive women into performing sex acts on camera.

Hall, 35, of Heidelberg, is due to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Jan. 27 to face 57 charges.

AbbyWinters.com is a paysite that specializes in lesbian and solo erotica of amateur female nude models. The site has about 30,000 subscribers.

Bing, Yahoo Block Porn in India

December 30th, 2009

MUMBAI — The Microsoft Bing and Yahoo search engines now block access in India to adult material after recent changes to a law that criminalizes the publication of porn.

Indian users of Bing now are told “your country or region requires a strict Bing SafeSearch setting, which filters out results that might return adult content,” according to the an investigation published in The Guardian.

Yahoo search and Yahoo-owned photo-sharing site Flickr also are blocking access to adult material by preventing Indian users from turning off the safe-search feature. The same restrictions are given to users in Singapore, Hong Kong and Korea.

The initiative in India to block traffic evidently is in response to changes to the country’s Information Technology Act of 2000, which bans porn.

Under the new law, ISPs and Internet café operators are obligated to exercise due diligence and disable access to any content which goes against the act. Failure to do so carries a three-year jail sentence and a fine about $11,000.

Google Phone Poised to Debut Jan. 5

December 30th, 2009

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Google has announced a press conference discussing Android for Jan. 5, the same day reports indicate a launch of the Google Phone.

Invitations were sent to the news media Tuesday.

Google‘s invitation doesn’t divulge many specifics about what’s in store at the Mountain View, Calif., conference. Another conference is planned for CES in Las Vegas.

The invitation, titled “Please join us for an Android press gathering,” states the following: “With the launch of the first Android-powered device just over a year ago, we’ve seen how a powerful, open platform can spur mobile product innovation. And this is just the beginning of what’s possible.”

Mobile tech blog TmoNews released a document said to be from T-Mobile’s upper management on the sale of the phone.

It said: “Google, with support from T-Mobile, is scheduled to launch a new Android device in early January. The Google Android phone will be sold solely by Google via the web. Support for this device, including troubleshooting and exchanges, will be managed by Google and HTC. T-Mobile will offer service support, including billing, coverage, features and rate plans.”

HTC reportedly is building the Google handset, called Nexus One. Information Week reported that Nexus One will cost $530 for an unlocked handset or $180 with a T-Mobile two-year contract).

According to Engadget, the Nexus One measures a little over 0.45 inches thick, and has a 3.7-inch OLED touch screen. It possibly runs Qualcomm’s 1GHz QSD 8250 Snapdragon processor and has 512 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM and a 4 GB microSD card included, expandable to 32 GB.

The camera has a 5-megapixel sensor, mechanical auto focus and LED flash, and could also include 2x optical zoom. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, accelerometers and a compass.

So far, the Android operating system has exceeded the 20,000 app milestone and is seen as a vital revenue stream in the future for mobile adult companies.

Last month, Seattle-based MiKandi.com rolled out what it calls the world’s first adult mobile app store. MiKandi is a white label developers portal for free and paid-for apps, allowing developers to upload more content around porn.
